This trip we learned some additional lessons:
- Trying to make yourself sleep doesn't work
- Katie needs to drink more water on the trail
- Katie needs to eat more on the trail
- Sometimes not having a plan gives you wonderful surprises
- It's ok to bail early, s*$t happens
- Switch backs don't get easier (at least not in 2 weeks time)
- Getting a good night sleep is important
- Igor needs a warmer sleeping bag
- Weather changes (bring clothes for all weather, leave them in the car or bear locker but at least you have options when you get there)
- Plans change, even if your permit doesn't
- Know your limits
- 60+ year olds can still kick young ones butts
Until our next trip...aka car camping from San Francisco to Anaheim via HWY 1 next weekend!!

Know your limits - it's important to learn that lesson when it is not life threatening!!!! It sounds like you had another good backpacking trip. I imagine that few backpacking trips are uneventful. Love, Mom
